The Red Shift dual piston timing chain tensioners are a must for all uprated 2006 Dyna models and 2007 to present Twin Cams. These tensioners increase timing accuracy and valve train control at two critical points; the drivetrain and the chains. The dual piston system is simple, effective and easy to understand why it works. When the Twin Cam engine is running, the pressure waves push the sliding shoe back and forth. With only one piston, this movement causes the piston to briefly separate from the seat, interrupting the oil flow and allowing air to enter the tensioner. This trapped air reduces the contact pressure and causes the components to move back and forth, which is also transferred to the valves, valve spring retainers, rocker arms, pushrods, tappets and camshafts. The dual piston tensioners are designed for hydraulic and shoe stability and prevent damaging air pockets in the tensioner system, increasing complete valve train control and durability. Critical timing disturbances of both cylinders, better throttle response, acceleration and smoother running as well as increased power and torque over the entire rev range are the results. In short, these are the finest tensioners on the market that are truly superbly engineered and manufactured.
For all Dyna 2006-2017, Softail 2007-2017, Touring 2007-2016 and Trike 2009-2016. As well as all Twin Cam engines 1999-2006 that have been converted to the newer roller chain with hydraulic chain tensioner
