Harley-Davidson utilized the Active Intake System (AIS) on 2007 Touring models, as well as 2007–2015 Dyna and Softail models, and the Active Exhaust System (AES) on European-market Dyna and Softail models from 2007–2016, in order to comply with EU noise emission regulations. However, the AIS presents a challenge for those wishing to install an aftermarket air cleaner; removing the air cleaner backplate triggers a "Fault" warning light on the instrument cluster. Installing this "trick box" bypass module fools the OEM onboard computer, thereby eliminating the error message. The AIS trick box features an OEM-style connector that plugs directly into the 2-pin harness connector—replacing the AIS solenoid.
The Active Exhaust System (AES) consists of an ECM-controlled electric motor that opens or closes a valve within the exhaust system, also designed to meet EU exhaust noise standards. Consequently, for those installing a complete aftermarket exhaust system, it is necessary to bypass the ECM "Fault" signal to prevent the warning light from illuminating. The AES trick box also connects to the original wiring harness—replacing the connector for the exhaust valve actuator—and prevents the warning light from coming on.
Includes one set of two bypass modules, designed for use when installing an aftermarket air cleaner and an aftermarket exhaust system that lack integrated control mechanisms.
